[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (September 15)



2015: A Pacific trough tapped into remnant moisture from tropical cyclone Linda on this day.
1"-2"
of rain was common across the entire region.
Widespread urban flooding resulted, and led to a
major traffic jam during the morning commute in LA and Orange County.
A
debris flow hit Silverado Canyon.
1.21" fell on this day in San Diego, the second highest daily amount for any
day in September. This missed the wettest September day in history by only 0.02" (wettest September day was 1.23" on 9/30/1921).

2007:
Severe thunderstorms developed over parts of Imperial County and moved rapidly northeast during the evening hours.
By far, the most damage to structures and trees occurred in Palo Verde, in far northeast Imperial County.

1997:
Las Vegas, recorded 0.02" of rain, setting a daily record.
This was the only time measurable rainfall was recorded on this date since records began in 1937.

1979:
The temperature soared to 104° F in La Mesa on this day, the hottest day of the year, and the 5th hottest day of the 1970s.

1971: Palo Alto had a high of 105° F -- a record for the month.

1970:
The morning low temperature at Reno, NV was 28° F.

1928: Since weather records have been kept at Meadows Field in Bakersfield, this is the latest date in the calendar year that no precipitation at all has ever occurred.
