1968: It was 101° F at Santa Barbara setting a record high for May.

1964:
Hail to 1" in diameter caused minor property damage in the Reno, NV, area.

1953: Fresno set a record low of 40° F , lowest so late in the season.
River bottom areas nearby had light frost as well as Tarpey Village.

1951: Strong high pressure produced a remarkable scorcher in the desert from 5/25 to 5/27.
On 5/25 it reached 115° F in Palm Springs and 114° F in Thermal.
On this day it reached 115° F in Thermal, 114° F in Palm Springs, 113° F in Indio, and 103° F in
Victorville.
On 5/27 Indio topped out at 116° F.

1951: The high in Las Vegas, NV, reaches 109° F, setting a May record.

1946: Pinnacles National Monument recorded 0.37" of rain.

1942: Portola recorded 1.49" of precipitation.
