Re: [californiadisasters] North State flooding

I don't usually listen that far out (two hours or 120 miles from here) and in fact, barely have one of the 4 scanners on these days.  Part of it is winter, part of it is that I'm starting to disconnect from CA (and some FB) things in preparation to my move to Idaho (where there is barely any scanner traffic, except CDA, Boise and Pocatello, usual city stuff).

I've trained successors, they're doing well, it was time to put them into play, so I did.  I slipped away a few times and no one caught it (but I can listen remotely if I'm gone; nothing big happened).

Some notable flooding in your old haunt over on the 101 corridor today.... and elsewhere in LNU.

Some minor flooding in El Dorado County, some up to a foot or so.  Multiple wrecks over the last few hours, to many people in too big a hurry.  That has calmed down.  The number of dispatches has dropped considerably.

It was windy but it's calmed down here.  With the saturated ground, trees may be hazardous.

Sandbag locations have been posted, limit 20 bags per visit, load your own.

My personal weather station is reporting that the total so far since 1 Jul is over 21", roughly double the normal precip.

Well, we're getting plenty of water with this latest storm set, and since the ground has been nicely pre-moistened, it's soaked up what it can and now we have *runoff* starting to result in mud/rockslides, falling trees, and plenty of flooded roadways.

Nothing huge as yet, although there is a rockslide that blocked Hwy 162 for most of the day and they're still working on getting it cleared (up in the Berry Creek area).  Houses in the area may have some erosion issues, haven't heard a whole lot on that.

Have a good night!
