I don't usually listen that far out (two hours or 120 miles from here) and in fact, barely have one of the 4 scanners on these days. Part of it is winter, part of it is that I'm starting to disconnect from CA (and some FB) things in preparation to my move to Idaho (where there is barely any scanner traffic, except CDA, Boise and Pocatello, usual city stuff).
I've trained successors, they're doing well, it was time to put them into play, so I did. I slipped away a few times and no one caught it (but I can listen remotely if I'm gone; nothing big happened).
