[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (October 24)



2001: Dense fog in the Inland Empire led to 13 separate pile-up accidents involving 39 vehicles on Interstate 215 in Perris.
8 were injured.

1998: Gusty pre-frontal winds caused a dust storm 3 miles east of Hanford.
15 cars and a tractor trailer were involved resulting in 8 injuries.

1971: Isolated and briefly heavy thunderstorms struck the region.
1.58" fell in San Bernardino, 0.12" in Riverside, but nothing in Redlands.
Some places reported drifts of hail.
Streets flooded with up to 2 feet of water and/or became slippery with hail.
Numerous traffic accidents resulted.

1959: Oakland airport had a high of 88° F.

1956: The morning low temperature at Donner Memorial State Park was 4° F.

1951: It was 30° F in Palm Springs, the lowest temperature on record for October and the earliest date in the season to record a freezing temperature.

1945: The morning low temperature at Reno, NV, was 18° F.
