[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (August 22)



2012: Monsoonal thunderstorms dumped 1"-2" of rain (mostly in a 3-hour period) over the southern Las Vegas Valley, especially east and west of McCarran International Airport. Significant flash-flooding occurred, especially at Henderson, NV.

1982:
Reno, NV had a high temperature of 101° F.

1972: It was 105° F at Santa Barbara and 98° F in Idyllwild, their highest temperatures on record for August.

1969: Palo Alto had a high temperature of 89° F.

1969: It was an incredible 110° F in Cuyamaca.

1968: It was 31° F in Big Bear Lake, making this day the earliest date in the season to reach freezing temperatures.
It was 27° F in Idyllwild, the lowest temperature on record for August.

1952: Downtown Bakersfield suffered significant damage from a 5.8 earthquake.
Many buildings were damaged and 2 people died.

1903: All-time August record low for Bakersfield set, 44° F.
