[californiadisasters] California Statewide Fire Summary Wednesday, July 29, 2015 – PM Update

This afternoon fire activity in Northern California significantly
increased as temperatures hit the triple digits and the winds became very gusty. With the extremely challenging weather
conditionsfirefighters were able to contain the dozens of wildfires that sparked, but the drought caused dry vegetation coupled with the windy conditions allowed 5 of the wildfires to rapidly grow and threaten homes. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated in wildfires from Shasta to Lake to Tuolumne counties.
This evening there are 14 large wildfires currently burning in
California including several that are on the National Forest and nearing full containment.
Tomorrow conditions will be very similar and fire danger will again be elevated. CAL FIRE stressed the importance for all residents to do their part to prevent sparking a wildfire. One Less Spark, means One Less Wildfire. Learn more at www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
