[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (March 26)



2003: Government Peak (near Randsburg in Kern Co.) recorded a 91 mph gust from the north.
 
1993: Heavy rain that started on 3.25 and ended on this day brought local flooding, mud, debris, and road closures in Orange County.
Funnel clouds were observed starting on this day and ending on 3.28.
Two were seen near Temecula and one was observed in Moreno Valley.
 
1991: An F0 tornado touched down near Plainsburg.
Another F0 tornado was observed by personnel at China Lake NAS for about 3-4 minutes moving northeast throwing around tumbleweed.
Five funnel clouds were also reported in the central and southern San Joaquin Valley.
 
1988: Santa Ana weather brought 90-degree temperatures all over the region on 3.25 and on this day.
It was 102° in Santee on 3.25, 97° throughout the San Diego Valleys all three days, 90° in San Diego on this day.
Several brush fires resulted.
On this day LA hit 95°, and broke record high temperatures for three consecutive days.
Santa Barbara and Lompoc both set monthly record high temperatures with 96° on this date.
 
1985: 15" of snow fell at Virginia City.
 
1985: It was 98° in Riverside, the highest temperature recorded in March.
 
1984: The Mojave Desert was strafed by ferocious winds of 60-90 mph.
Peak winds at Mojave were clocked at 103 mph and at Daggett they were 66 mph.
Power outages and road closures resulted.
Near Indio, a CHP officer reported a car door ripped off and that he was hit by a sizable rock.
Another car had its windows blown out.
 
1920: 26" of snow fell at Truckee.

1853: Downtown San Francisco picked up 2.85" of rain.
