Re: [californiadisasters] outside help

Bull dozers and water tenders make no sense. Those are available
locally under the Emergency Resource Directory (ERD) at every CAL FIRE
unit. No matter what the agency, once an incident has been assigned and
the money is sourced, local units can draw down on their ERD to meet
current incident resource objectives.

If I remember correctly, during Hurricane Katrina, CAL FIRE sent two or
more strike teams to Louisiana, but that was to teach about the incident
command system. Yes, they did get involved in field assignments, but
then the CHP had to send cars over to "protect" the engines from being
stripped by loving citizens when firefighters were trying to put out the
fire.

Maybe New Jersey wants to learn the ICS? Seems kind of an expensive
training session though...

I thought the USFS budget was already stretched thin last year. Maybe
they are going to use new 2014 funding for "fun in the sun" instead of
stucture protection?

Be safe. Get prepared. Stay ready.
