CA-STF Rim Fire

Wilkins NC IMT1; Lawshe CA IMT1 Unified Command

179,481 acres, 20% contained, No expected containment date.

Last night's winds minimized opportunities for planned burnout operations on the West and North sides of the fire.  The fire is expected to become very active by mid-morning with significant spread to the East farther into Yosemite National Park. Growth will continue as fire backs down to control lines between Pilot Ridge and Crocker Ridge. Moderate fire growth is anticipated to the North.  Damage assessments from the Berkeley Camp revealed extensive losses to infrastructure. Mandatory evacuations are in effect north of the Old Yosemite Road. Structure defense South of HWY 120 in Division R by ground and aerial resources was occurred in the afternoon. Evacuation Advisory issued for areas form Long Barn North to Pinecrest. Several locations on the West side of Yosemite National Park have had closures implemented as a result of the fires spread. Evacuation Advisories are still in effect for Tuolumne City and nearby areas along the HWY 108 corridor. Access and difficult terrain remain concerns for crews and equipment. Good progress is being achieved with construction of contingency control lines.

CA-SQF Fish Fire

Reidy, NM IMT 2

1,900 acres 7% contained, No expected containment

The fire will spread primarily to the northwest, toward Angora Mountain, east towards Trout Meadows and northeast towards Hole in the Ground.  Three large spot fires between the eastern flank and the Kern River burned actively and due accessibility and size will require a change in tactics for the eastern flank of the fire.  Chance of thunderstorms today.

CA-KNP Windy Peak

451 ACRES     20% Contained

Fire is located in John Muir wilderness. Perimeter anticipated spreading east and north towards natural barriers and handline.  Today's plan is to continue to hold fire north of Middle Fork of the Kings River and construct line from the river to the avalanche chute on the north.  Natural barriers are being employed as much as possible in the suppression strategy.
