RE: [californiadisasters] Foreign Airlines Urged To Use GPS For SFO Landings



Pathetic.  When I learned how to fly it was always trust the instruments (and learn that the DG drifts off).  I guess things have changed since then.  Since wasn’t IFR conditions (they don’t get much better at SFO) the pilots first responsibility is to fly the ()*&&* plane.  All they had to do was look out the window.  What doesn’t move is where you’re going.

Foreign airlines urged to use GPS for SFO landings

All foreign airlines are now being advised to use a GPS system to guide landings onto the main runways at San Francisco International Airport, federal aviation officials said Sunday, a response to concern that some pilots for foreign carriers aren't adept enough at touching down manually.
