[Geology2] Lava Tube Nuke Fall-Out Shelters Discussed 50 Years Ago



From the pages of the Redding Record-Search this date in 1962:

"Shasta County Supervisor Norman Wagoner told the Burney Chamber of Commerce that fallout shelter space for 4,000 persons in the lava caves could be created in the county for $23,000.
The expenditure would provide for conversion of the lava caves in the Hat Creek area to fallout shelters."
