A New club is forming. If your interested in eating healthy, being active andpromoting a healthy lifestyle, come join the VVHS fitness club in A104 at lunch on Thursday. If your a health nut its the place to be.

Operation Smile will meet today in A101 at lunch.

Converge—the student-led Bible study—will be having a special guest speaker today, Tuesday, January 24, during lunch in room F211. Everyone is welcome to come!"

The SOAR store will be open every Friday near the DECA Hawk snack bar in H hall. Exchange you SOAR cards for stuff you want at the Soar Store ...we even have Winter Ball tickets. The next SOAR drawing will be Tuesday, January 31. For the January 31 drawing, we will be giving away Winter Ball tickets. (These tickets are non-transferrable.) So make sure you SOAR this week and get your cards turned in to your academy office or the library. This week, teachers will be recognizing students that demonstrate Achievement in the classroom.

Faculty/Staff and students, administrators will be coming by during 5th period this week to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or HIGHER for the Fall semester. On Friday, all students that received this recognition for the fall semester are invited to come to a celebration in the gym at 2:15 PM. Make sure you have your certificate to be dismissed from class. Once again, over 25% of the student body at VVHS had a 3.5 GPA or higher for thefall semester. Congratulations to all these students and the school challenges all of our students to strive for that 3.5 GPA or higher.

Tickets for Winter Ball will go on sale beginning Wednesday, January 25th in the Activities Office during lunch for $20.00. You must have your student ID to purchase your ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend VVHSplease get a permission slip from the Activities Office or download the form from the Volcano Vista Hawks website. You must have the permission slip with you when you purchase your ticket. The theme for this years dance is Fire & Ice.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple-aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools designed to help you explore the world of work in the civilian and military workplace. It isintended for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and in addition to determining your qualifications for various jobs in any of the Armed forces, it can help guide you regardless of your future plans after high school. The ASVAB test will be offered here in the lecture hall on Wednesday, February 1st from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Sign up the JROTC classroom, B154 no later than Monday, 23 January. Seniors are you attending college in the fall? Attention All eCADEMY Students: eCADEMY courses start today. Make sure you attend the lab day you have signed up for. Report to F213 after school. If you have any questions see Mrs. Wells or Mrs. Henss.

TEENS for JEANS: Please bring your gently worn jeans to activities and help support homeless teens. You will receive a coupon for 25% off your next pair of jeans at AEROPOSTALE.

Seniors you will be voting for the 2012 Senior Superlatives during advisory on Wednesday. Please be sure to attend your advisory session.

A quick reminder to all seniors who received Honorable Hawks forms--they are due at the end of the day to the activities office.

ATHLETICS

  • All boys that plan to run track must be in A101 at lunch on Friday, January 20th for a meeting.
  • Girls interested in track and field--Please see Coach Schrader for information regarding preseason workouts and other important information. She is in room A216.
  • All girls interested in playing softball, practice will begin on Monday, Jan. 23rd at2:45. Meet at the softball field with your glove, cleats, water and your completed physical form.
  • There is a boy's basketball game Tuesday night against Eldorado at 7pm in the Ring of Fire.
