Re: [Geology2] When in Evanston, Illinois, be sure to visit

Inquiring minds want to know... what is the age differential between the two of you... ;-p

Cool-sounding place, BTW, and thanks for the tip.

A marvelous place; VERY reasonable prices. I challenge you to get out
the door without purchasing anything. My girlfriend, the geology major,
got ELEVEN very nice mineral samples (including a gorgeous wood-like
sandstone, as well as red calcite, blue calcite, quartz amethyst, green
kyanite, blue kyanite, aragonite star, chrysacolla, agate, quartz geode,
and peridot in basalt) for just $50. Nice.

We found out about the place from a faculty member we happened to
encounter today while visiting Northwestern's Department of Earth and
Planetary Sciences (where my gf is thinking of applying to grad school).
Apparently a very complete department, it offers concentrations in
general geoscience, geophysics, earth materials, geochemistry, earth
history and paleobiology, climate science, and planetary science -- and
has faculty members whose specialties include geochemistry,
hydrogeochemistry, biogeochemistry, thermodynamics, mineral physics,
planetary geophysics, paleolimnology, paleoclimatology, biostratigraphy,
sedimentology, seismology, and tomography. Nice.
