RE: [californiadisasters] Flash Flood Warning - Inyo Co.

For those that don’t know, that’s Death Valley.  This is potentially a big deal.  It’s all a ‘wash’ there is flooding damages quite a bit.  Contrary to popular belief, there is a lot of LIFE there, including a few species found no where else on earth.  I was there shortly after a minor storm last Jan and half the park was closed.  It’s a magical place, in the winter (too blazing hot in the summer).

This will effectively close the park for quite a while if it storms as predicted.  Roads will close, including a state highway, mud will cover the rest and it will be some time before its all ‘good’ again.  It’s not an irregular event; they get some BIG flash floods.  Lives have been lost there as a result too.

Last week daytime temps were 114 or better (NO humidity).  Good thing for the marathoners the race was earlier in the month.  (Yes, there is an annual marathon around the 4th of July, during 125 degree temps.  Does someone else have a better definition of STUPID?).
