On This Date In California Weather History....

1987: Thunderstorms developed on 9.22 and on this day from San Diego to El Cajon from the remnants of Hurricane Norma.
Frequent lightning caused numerous power outages and property damage, and ignited small fires.
Rainfall was 0.55 inch in two hours at Lemon Grove and 0.97 inch total.
Very frequent lightning caused numerous power outages and property damage, and ignited small fires.

1958: Daily rainfall record set at Fresno with 0.24" recorded.
This was the second measurable rainfall event of the month which resulted in some damage to raisins and other crops.

1945: It was 26° in Idyllwild, the lowest temperature on record for September.
This also occurred the next day on 9.24.1945, on 9.20.1965, and on 9.21.1968.

1908: Wettest calendar day for the month of September on record in Bakersfield, 0.60" of rain.

1903: Bakersfield dipped to 31 degrees, earliest freezing low on record here.
