[californiadisasters] [EDIS] Damaging winds expected in the mountains of Ventura, L.A. & Santa Barbara Co.'s and A.V.



 ... GUSTY WINDS WILL AFFECT THE REMAINDER OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA...  .STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL AFFECT MOST OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA TODAY INTO TONIGHT. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE  MOUNTAINS OF SANTA BARBARA... VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES... AS  WELL AS THE ANTELOPE VALLEY... WHERE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH ARE LIKELY. LOCAL WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT. GUSTY WINDS WILL AFFECT COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...WITH WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE IN HIGHER TERRAIN AND NEAR THE IMMEDIATE COAST. IN THE SAN FERNANDO AND SANTA CLARITA VALLEYS...THE SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS...AND THE SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY MOUNTAINS...GUSTY WINDS WILL LIKELY PERSIST INTO THE NIGHT.  THERE IS A CHANCE THAT DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH WILL DEVELOP ON THE SOUTH COAST OF SANTA BARBARA COUNTY BELOW PASSES AND CANYONS THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...SO A HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT. ...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING... A HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING. * TIMING: WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS MORNING...WITH DAMAGING GUSTS CONTINUING THROUGH THIS EVENING. * WINDS: SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS GUSTS WILL OCCUR OVER THE FOOTHILLS. * IMPACTS: STRONG WINDS WILL LIKELY IMPACT TRAVEL ON THE 14 FREEWAY AND PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 138. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO LIKELY CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING DUST AND SAND...WHICH WILL LOCALLY REDUCE VISIBILITY TO A MILE OR LESS. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE. &&
